NO KINGS, DETROIT

DOCUMENTARY

Thousands gathered in Clark Park for the No Kings ICE protest in support of immigrant rights. The event was non-violent, emphasizing cooperation, community, and the protection of First Amendment rights.  Protesters marched to the Federal Building on Michigan Avenue with art, music, and signs, creating a joyful, determined spirit of resistance. The name “No Kings” symbolized rejection of authoritarian control, especially targeting ICE policies viewed as unjust toward immigrant families.

In vibrant Mexicantown neighborhood, the word immigrant holds deep meaning. Many residents are immigrants or descendants of immigrants who have shaped the culture, economy, and identity of Detroit and the Industrial North. Here, immigration isn’t a policy issue—it’s personal. The protest was both a celebration of their contributions and a stand against fear-based enforcement. This community’s strength lies in its unity and refusal to be silent, using peace and solidarity to demand justice.
