After a trip to West Virginia in October to photograph a dancer newly-minted on pointe (images forthcoming . . . those are holiday gifts for relatives and Santa will make the first presentation before putting them online), I fell in love with the idea of creating beautiful art of girls at this age.  I'm excited to announce that we will be doing many more dance portraits and will be reaching out to studios in metro Detroit and beyond.  Be in touch if you have a dancer and would like to learn more!  Images below were photographed a few weeks ago at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills using the 135mm 2.0 lens.

The sun glowed in the background through the trees on this snowy, winter December day a few weeks ago and I couldn't resist putting this young beauty right in its path.  I wasn't aware that I captured this perfect "ring of fire" until later in post.  Often, photographers Photoshop in light rays, glows, and specular highlights, but this spectacular light was the real deal!

I'm so grateful for T and R for trekking out and playing with me on what was truly a "winter wonderland" day.  It snowed (and snowed and snowed) so hard that it took me about two hours to drive home (about 30 miles) from this session.  These are the few days I love Michigan winters.  Clean, bright white soft snow in a forest canopy with a great client and a beautiful little girl!
